Hanging instructions NATURAL WALLCOVERINGS

General
Because of the great difference in walls and circumstances, (i.e. relative humidity and temperature) these working instructions are no guarantee for perfection, and therefore we can accept no responsibility. If necessary, beforehand, contact your supplier who will advise you accordingly.

Characteristics
Eastern wallcoverings is a natural product, and differences in colour and structure can occur. These are typical qualities and give the product a very decorative character. Eastern wallcoverings is liable to changes in colour and is not colour-fast. It is, however, a natural product and in the course of time looks even better!

Inspection
On arrival of the goods always check:
a) if you have received the correct item number.
b) for possible colour variations and other technical defects.
After observing any defects, contact the supplier directly. No claims can be made after processing more than two lengths.

Colour matching
In order to obtain a good and even colour and structure on the wall, the lengths need to be cut to size and arranged in sequence of colour and structure (this can be best done by pricking the lengths next to each other on the wall). Subsequently, number the lengths with a graphite pencil and process consecutively.

Foundation
This must be flat, smooth, uniform in colour, clean and dry. Work away dark patches, and if necessary paste them over with lining paper. Remove the old wallcovering, and wash down painted walls with ammonia water. This applies also to white calcium walls. Pre-paste porous foundations such as plaster and chipboard walls. Fill splits and seams with a filling and isolate nail and screwheads.

Paste
The recommended paste is Perfax Metyl Speciaal. If required, 10% of Perfax’s Texielwandbekledingslijm may be added. In all cases, the paste must be applied to the wallcovering. Follow the directions on the box of paste for heavy wallpaper.

Pasting
Apply the paste evenly to the numbered lengths one for one, especially the edges. Do not apply too thickly. Next, carefully fold the lengths and loosely roll-up. Allow a little time to soak. The soaking-time varies between 5 to 10 minutes according to the sort of wallcovering, the thickness of the paste, humidity, etc. The lengths must in any case feel supple.

Application
Bring the first length against a plumb-line and work the following lengths against each other (push together). Next, using a soft clean brush, spatula, or roller, carefully smooth over. To avoid damaging the weave and getting paste stains on the sides, a piece of lining paper can be placed between spatula and wallcovering.
In the cast of sticking-out corners, paste at least 10 cm further. Use a cutter with snap-off blades when cutting to size at the ceiling and plinth. The knife stays in the angle, the spatula is re-positioned.

Attention
Cut rolls cannot be returned.
